The Swiss Conservative Democratic Party, known in German as Bürgerlich-Demokratische Partei (BDP), in French as Parti bourgeois démocratique (PBD), and in Italian as Partito Borghese Democratico, was a centrist political party in Switzerland that emerged from a split within the Swiss People's Party (SVP) in 2008. The split occurred primarily due to differences in policy and direction between the party's more moderate and hardline conservative factions, with the Conservative Democrats representing the more moderate, centrist perspective.

It sought to balance liberal economic policies with social welfare, advocating for a free market economy while also supporting measures to ensure social security and equality. The Conservative Democratic Party was known for its moderate stance on immigration, advocating for controlled immigration policies that balanced the needs of the Swiss economy with social cohesion.

Environmental sustainability was another key area of focus for the party, reflecting a broader trend in Swiss politics towards recognizing and addressing environmental issues. The party supported policies aimed at protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable development, aiming to balance economic growth with environmental conservation.

In terms of foreign policy, the Conservative Democratic Party supported Switzerland's traditional stance of neutrality, while also advocating for active participation in international organizations and agreements, recognizing the importance of global cooperation in addressing international issues.

Despite its initial success and representation in the Swiss Federal Council, the party struggled to maintain a significant presence in Swiss politics, facing challenges in distinguishing itself from other centrist and center-right parties. Over time, the party's influence waned, leading to discussions about mergers with other political entities. In 2021, the party officially merged with the Liberal Green Party to form a new political entity, marking the end of the Conservative Democratic Party as a standalone party in Swiss politics. This merger reflected the challenges smaller parties face in the Swiss political landscape, where the multi-party system and proportional representation often necessitate alliances and cooperation among parties with similar values and goals.
